Junior Saints Drawings: Easter

“Jesus at Easter reminds me of fresh starts. When He died everyone was sad. When He rose from the dead, everyone was happy. He had told everyone He was the true son of God. Everybody was relieved; all their worries were washed away. We were filled with new hope; we rejoiced and sang! Easter is a time for me to celebrate Jesus's resurrection with my family.” - Ireland Donahue, fifth grade, Blessed Sacrament School, Washington, D.C.

On Easter, Christians around the world celebrate the most important tenant of our faith: that Jesus triumphed over death and rose again to new life.

“Easter means a lot to me because Jesus rose from the dead and forgave us for all of our sins and wrongful doing. We can cherish this moment together as a family and spend Easter together celebrating the resurrection of Jesus.” - Holly Mott, sixth grade, St. Columba School, Oxon Hill, Maryland

The Gospel of Mark recalls that three women were the first to discover the empty tomb of Jesus. After they had done so, they went to go tell Jesus' disciples.

“What Easter means to me is that Jesus has died for us and saved us from sins. Sometimes I don't do the right thing, but I know that when I say a prayer that Jesus will forgive me. I know that Jesus will be with me from the day I was born until I die.” - Libby Wilkerson, fifth grade, St. Mary's School, Bryantown, Maryland
“To me, Easter means that Jesus loved and cared for us so much that He died a painful death. Jesus was humiliated and hurt in public. Jesus never gave up. He died so that we could be freed from sin. Easter means that I have a chance to go to Heaven because Jesus died.” -Julia Palor, sixth grade, St. Columba School, Oxon Hill, Maryland

After they discovered the empty tomb, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, who recognized Him after He called her by name. He then appeared to His disciples and showed them the wounds on His hands from the cross.

“Easter means to me the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus who sacrificed Himself for us.” - Zoe De Armas, eighth grade, Holy Redeemer School, Kensington, Maryland
Sarah Hennings, eighth grade, St. Mary's School, Bryantown, Maryland

On Easter, the sorrow of Good Friday is replaced with the joy of Jesus's resurrection. The disciples who thought they had lost their friend, teacher, and savior learned that He had triumphed over death and returned to them.

Claire Sullivan, fourth grade, St. Patrick's Church, Rockville, Maryland
Alina Sweeney, seventh grade, Our Lady Star of the Sea School, Solomons, Maryland

Through this resurrection, Jesus conquered death not only for Himself, but for all of us, too. Thanks to Him, the relationship we break with God through our sin can be restored. After our death, we can be with Him in Heaven.

“Easter means to me that Jesus loved me so much and made the biggest sacrifice He could possibly make because He loved us so much.” -Kadence Woolfok, sixth grade, St. Columba School, Oxon Hill, Maryland
“To me, Easter means family, commitment and prayer.” - Helena Redpath, fifth grade, Blessed Sacrament School, Washington, D.C.

Hallelujah, He is risen! Happy Easter!
