Archdiocese offering spiritual resources for Holy Week and Easter

While Holy Week may look different this year since area Catholics can't attend public Masses, the Archdiocese of Washington is offering resources to help the faithful celebrate in their own homes.

Catholics will enter into Holy Week virtually due to the closing of churches and the suspension of public Masses amid the coronavirus pandemic. In response, the archdiocese's Secretariat for Pastoral Ministry and Social Concerns prepared special Holy Week guides for celebrating at home. Resources for each day of Holy Week are here.

Washington Archbishop Wilton Gregory's Holy Week and Easter liturgies will be livestreamed  on the Archdiocese of Washington’s YouTube channel beginning with Palm Sunday Mass on April 5 and ending with Easter Sunday Mass on April 12.

The Holy Week resource guide includes worship aids for each liturgy so that participants can follow along with the Mass with song, readings, and responses.

Each day will also include detailed information about each day of Holy Week, including a description of what each day represents and where the day’s particular devotion can be found in Scripture. Additional spiritual reading and fun facts are also included, as well as tips for celebrating each day of Holy Week at home. Activity suggestions for children are included as well.
