The Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Washington is holding its annual gala on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. This year, Cardinal Gregorio Rosa Chávez, an auxiliary bishop of San Salvador who was good friends with Blessed Oscar Romero, will be a special guest at the gala. The event includes dinner, live music, and a silent auction. Tickets to the event are $100, with one-half of the proceeds going toward a renovation of the parish’s kitchen, and one-half going toward the parish school in San Salvador where Cardinal Chávez is the pastor. All are welcome to attend and can purchase tickets by calling the parish at 202-234-8000. The parish is located at 3211 Sacred Heart Way, N.W., near the intersection of 16th Street and Park Road.
