Annual Walk with Mary is set Dec. 10

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington will host its annual Walk with Mary procession and Mass to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas, on Saturday, Dec. 10.

The theme of this year’s celebration is ”Accompanying and Praying for the Migrant Community.”

The procession will depart from the Shrine of the Sacred Heart at 16th Street and Park Road in Northwest Washington at 11 a.m. and conclude at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception at Fourth Street and Michigan Avenue in Northeast Washington.

At 1 p.m., there will be a recitation of the rosary, and Mass will be offered at 2 p.m.

Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Archbishop of Washington, will be the principal celebrant of the Mass, and Washington Auxiliary Bishop Mario E. Dorsonville, the outgoing chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops migration committee, will serve as the homilist.

The Walk with Mary is sponsored by the archdiocese’s Office for Cultural Diversity and Outreach.
