Maryland Catholics encouraged to join Catholic Advocacy Network

The Maryland Catholic Conference focuses on advocating for the Church’s priorities in three areas: protecting the dignity of human life, social and economic justice, and education and youth justice. We know that legislators pay attention to what they hear from their constituents, so an important part of our work is engaging parishioners at critical points during session.

The Catholic Advocacy Network helps parishioners learn about the issues and gives an easy way to be heard. Last year, Maryland Catholics sent nearly 70,000 emails to their legislators in response to action alerts. That is an incredible number, and we will need that and more this coming session.

Jenny Kraska, the executive director of the Maryland Catholic Conference, said, “We really encourage parishioners to sign up, to follow our weekly email update during session, and to take action on alerts. We launched a new website this fall that is easy to use and includes an action center and testimony that we offer, but we also have a new resource center for parishes and individuals. We are adding content regularly.”

Parishioners can join the Catholic Advocacy Network at //mdcatholic.org/joincan; texting MDCATHOLIC to 52886 or using our QR code.
