Washington Cardinal Wilton Gregory washes a boy’s feet during the April 6 Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. In his homily at the Mass, Cardinal Gregory said that Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper set an example for his followers to love and serve others. He also noted how Jesus instituted the Eucharist at the Last Supper, and how receiving Jesus in the Eucharist is related to going out and serving others as Jesus did. At the end of the Mass, the cardinal processed with the Eucharist to the cathedral's St. Anthony Chapel, where people participated in Adoration that evening. (CS photo/Mihoko Owada)
