For this month's Junior Saints, students in the Archdiocese of Washington drew scenes from Holy Week and wrote about what Easter means to them.

During Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter, the Catholic Church remembers some of the notable events leading up to Jesus's resurrection, starting with Palm Sunday, which this year occurs on April 14.  On Palm Sunday, we remember the day that Jesus entered Jerusalem, greeted by crowds who praised Him for the miracles He had performed. 

Unfortunately, it was only a few days after the crowds welcomed Jesus enthusiastically that they decided to turn against him. In the beginning of the Triduum - the three days leading up to Easter – we remember the day that Judas, one of Jesus's disciples, betrayed Him by telling Roman authorities where they could find Him to arrest Him. Then, on Good Friday, we remember the day that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins.

Thankfully, that is not the end of the story, and at the end of the Triduum we get to celebrate Jesus's resurrection on Easter. Through His resurrection, Jesus made it possible for us to go to Heaven to be with God forever.
