The annual Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington Mass honoring the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be celebrated Sunday, Jan. 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Upper Marlboro.
Washington Cardinal Wilton Gregory will be principal celebrant of the 10 a.m. Mass, and Auxiliary Bishop Roy E. Campbell Jr., pastor of St. Joseph’s, will concelebrate. Prior to the Mass, praise and worship, featuring the St. Joseph Gospel Choir, will be offered beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Washington’s Office of Cultural Diversity, the Mass is offered as part of the archdiocese's annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. The Mass and celebration are held annually near Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the federal holiday observed on the third Monday of January. This year, the holiday will be observed on Monday, Jan. 16.
