The #iGiveCatholic campaign in The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington raised a record amount of more than $1 million during this year’s drive, as local Catholics continued their strong tradition of generosity and community support.
The national online giving event after Thanksgiving on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, raised a record-breaking $23,413,550 nationwide. In the Archdiocese of Washington, almost 2,500 donors contributed a total of $1,012,505, which represented 4.3% of the reported funds raised nationwide and ranked sixth among the 50 participating archdioceses and dioceses in the United States.
The #iGiveCatholic campaign saw donations directed to ministries across the archdiocese. The top ministries in the Archdiocese of Washington supported in the campaign included the 2024 Annual Catholic Services Appeal, which raised $217,381 from 443 donors. The Saint John Paul II Seminary raised $125,918, and the archdiocesan Office of Priest Vocations raised $125,210. Other ministries with strong support included the archdiocese’s Retired Priests Collection and the Community Food Security Program.
Local parishes also received generous support during the campaign. St. Cecilia Catholic Church in St. Mary’s City received $44,075 from 26 donors. Kidane-Mehret Ge’ez Rite Ethiopian Catholic Church raised $34,380 from 20 donors, and St. Dominic Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., raised $32,550 from 24 donors. The Catholic Student Center at the University of Maryland raised $62,260 from 175 donors, demonstrating the commitment of Catholics in the archdiocese to support faith-based initiatives on college campuses.
Across the archdiocese, 111 ministries received at least one gift, with an average of $3,763.96 raised per ministry. These contributions reflect the growing support for the archdiocese’s mission to serve the faithful through education, vocations, social services and other vital programs.
The #iGiveCatholic campaign continues to play a key role in supporting the Archdiocese of Washington’s ministries, allowing the faithful to contribute directly to the Church’s mission both locally and nationally. Campaign organizers said the success of this year’s campaign demonstrates local Catholics’ commitment to supporting ministries that provide essential services to those in need.
