Schedule of liturgies for the Sacred Paschal Triduum and Easter Sunday at the National Shrine

Pope Francis’s personal representative, Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the apostolic nuncio to the United States, will preside over the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception’s liturgies for Holy Thursday (April 14), Good Friday (April 15), and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday (April 16).

On Easter Sunday (April 17), Cardinal Wilton Gregory, the archbishop of Washington, D.C. and chairman of the National Shrine Board of Trustees, will celebrate the Solemnity of the Resurrection of the Lord at noon. Archbishop Timothy Broglio, archbishop for the Military Services, USA will celebrate the Easter Sunday Mass in Spanish at 2:30 p.m. 

These liturgies will be livestreamed by the Basilica at www.nationalshrine.org/mass and broadcast by EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network).

Here is the complete schedule:

Holy Thursday, April 14:

6 p.m. Solemn Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Archbishop Pierre will be celebrant and homilist.

Good Friday (April 15):

3 p.m. Solemn Celebration of the Passion of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Archbishop Pierre will preside and Msgr. Walter Rossi, rector of the National Shrine will be celebrant and homilist.

Holy Saturday (April 16):

8 p.m. Solemn Easter Vigil. Archbishop Pierre will be celebrant and homilist.

Easter Sunday (April 17):  

12 p.m. (noon) Solemnity of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Cardinal Gregory will be celebrant and homilist.

 2:30 p.m. Spanish-language Solemnity of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Archbishop Broglio will be celebrant and homilist.

In addition, on Easter Sunday Masses will be celebrated at: 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
