Junior Saints Drawings: Holy Thursday

Junior Saints drawing by Lucas Barthel, fifth grade, Blessed Sacrament School, Washington

On Holy Thursday, we remember the day that Jesus instituted the Eucharist during the Last Supper with His apostles.

“Easter is a time of reverence and reflection on Jesus Christ. We pause to remember what Jesus has done for us just to save [us from] our sins. At the Last Supper, Jesus promised on the third day He would rise in the glory of God, and we will all be in paradise with God. Easter is not all about candy or the Easter bunny, it's all about Jesus rising from the dead giving us new life." - Emma McDonald, fifth grade, St. Mary's School, Bryantown, Maryland
“Easter means a time that I get to spend with the best things in the world to me, God and my family.” -Ashlynn Dziekiewicz, eighth grade, Our Lady Star of the Sea School, Solomons, Maryland

After they ate, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, asking His Father, “if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26:42)

“Easter to me means a time to pray to God for forgiveness of sin. I also take time to spend time getting closer to God.” -Gemma Tamburri, eighth grade, Our Lady Star of the Sea School, Solomons

Even though Jesus asked His disciples to keep watch, they kept falling asleep as He prayed.

“Easter means to me Jesus's sacrifice of Himself. It means sacrificing a tiny bit of our lives. It means doing more good deeds and helping others. To me, it means to think of Jesus and God. We should always do good deeds, but during Lent, we should be stimulated to do them.” -Max Webster, fifth grade, Blessed Sacrament School, Washington

We can remember these events by going to Mass on Holy Thursday and celebrating the Eucharist, while praying to God like Jesus did.
