In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, on that holiday, and in the days that follow, Catholics have a special opportunity to show thanks for their blessings by donating to a variety of causes through the #iGiveCatholic campaign.
“During this season of gratitude, thousands of the faithful seek out the good works of the Church to help make a positive difference in the lives of the people in their communities – both human needs, as well as spiritual nourishment,” said Joseph Gillmer, the Executive Director of Development for The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington.
Describing the campaign, Gilmer noted that “#iGiveCatholic, celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 29 as part of #GivingTuesday, the national day of giving to charitable causes, provides a single place to explore and support hundreds of Catholic parishes, schools, and ministries throughout the Church of Washington.”
Last year, nearly 2,000 donors provided $455,000 to Catholic institutions in the greater Washington region.
While #GivingTuesday is on Nov. 29, donors can find and support their favorite Catholic causes early by visiting washington.igivecatholic.org. Through that website, people can explore and directly support more than 260 Catholic causes in the Archdiocese of Washington.
Gilmer said participating in the #iGiveCatholic campaign offers Catholics “an easy way to support the good works of the Church and to make a difference in the lives of countless people throughout our area.”
