The Archdiocese of Washington has created a page on its website dedicated to the Nov. 28 Consistory in Rome during which Cardinal-designate Wilton Gregory will be elevated to the College of Cardinals.

The Archdiocese of Washington’s Office for Catechesis has created a series of informational graphics to help the faithful spiritually participate in the historic Consistory.
The materials – available in both English and Spanish – were also shared with priests, pastors and deacons so they can share with the faithful via parish bulletins, websites and other social media. The materials also include ideas for family activities such as drawing a picture of the new cardinal, making Italian desserts similar to what is served in Rome, thoughts on considering a vocation and a prayer the whole family can recite:

“Grant, we pray, that, Cardinal Gregory be filled with the grace to remain ever faithful to Christ and His Gospel.
“In accord with Your holy will, may he be constantly obedient to the Holy Roman Apostolic Church, to Blessed Peter in the person of the Supreme Pontiff Pope Francis, and of his canonically elected Successors.
“Fill him with strength and wisdom to maintain communion with the Catholic Church always, in word and deed.
“Give him a spirit of prudence to use the God-given gifts of intellect and will to do what is right and good in all things.
“For the benefit of the holy people of God, guide Cardinal Gregory with your Holy Spirit to carry out with great diligence and faithfulness those tasks to which he is called in service to the Church, in accord with the norms of the law. Amen.”
Also included are tips on how the faithful can celebrate in their homes the elevation of Cardinal-designate Gregory to the College of Cardinals, lighting a candle of support, and watching the consistory via livestream.
In addition, the site includes the opportunity for the faithful in the Archdiocese of Washington to send their prayer intentions which Cardinal Gregory will pray for at the altar of the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome on Nov. 29, the First Sunday of Advent, when Pope Francis will celebrate Mass with the new cardinals.
